The joy of small group travel

You’re booking a holiday by yourself but don’t want to spend it on your own… welcome to small group fitness holidays.

Tyla is our content creator, photographer and adventure host. She is currently in Indonesia completing her divemaster course. This is her account of how coming on a trip with More Life Adventures changed her view of group fitness travel and got her started in leading adventures.

Group travel used to be intimidating for me. I was accustomed to traveling with friends, family, and people I knew. I was also comfortable with solo travel, enjoying my own company and managing my expectations. Since both of these experiences were within my comfort zone, I never considered joining group trips.

However, my perspective changed when I joined in on a More Life Adventures trip for the first time when Stella's asked me to do the photography on one of the active holidays in Crete. Although I was excited about the Crete summer house and all it had to offer, I worried about fitting in with the group, given my introverted nature.

Fast forward a week into the trip, and I realised it was an incredible experience. Making memories and discovering new adventures with like-minded individuals made it all the better. Whether it was training together or exploring nature's beauty, everything felt more enjoyable when shared. As the week went on I got to know these strangers and realised how great it was to hear their stories and build friendships with them.

Recently, I interviewed Sam Jobson, who joined our Mallorca active holiday on his own, about his group experience. He shared, "I came on the Mallorca trip not knowing anybody and it was absolutely so much fun. It was very inclusive. The hosts were great at making sure everyone was included. Everyone on the group was very friendly and you really get to know everybody”.

“Everyone on the group was very friendly and you really get to know everybody”.

Based on my own experiences and insights from others, I've learned why booking a group holiday can be great. Here is what I can share with you:

  • Meeting and engaging with new people exposes you to diverse perspectives and lifestyles, building a sense of gratitude, understanding, and respect for those around you.

  • Exploring solo during group trips encourages conversations with fellow travelers, resulting in authentic and memorable stories. These stories are then remembered and shared for years to come!

  • Participating in group activities and challenging experiences helps build strong bonds and friendships, whether it's a gym workout, coasteering, or mountain hiking. Shared adventures connect people and break comfort zones for the better.

If you're hesitant about booking a group holiday, remember that More Life Adventures boasts an incredible community. Hopefully, this post instills confidence through sharing my experiences. One thing is certain: anyone joining one of these active holidays is in for an unforgettable trip.
