Adventure Club AT PARTHIAN

From October 2023 until March 2024, we ran our first series of Adventure Club at the vast climbing walls of Parthian in Wandsworth. We chose indoor climbing as it’s a great environment to improve agility, grip, and upper-body strength.

Through each session, we focused on building technique and confidence in climbing, rappelling, bouldering, and speed-climbing with a mixed group of ages and abilities.

IT WAS An evening to challenge and surprise OURSELVES

WHAT WE DID

  • THE CLIMBING

    Climbing and bouldering are great cardio and strength training. You engage your whole body including some of the less used muscles on your hands and feet. It's also a big confidence boost and there are no prerequisites to taking part.

    Our goal was not purely to get to the top of the wall, but to have fun and learn something along the way!

  • THE COACHING

    We had 90-minute coached session in small groups.

    Our wonderful coaches introduced and led us in both climbing and bouldering, instructing us on different routes depending the level of our confidence and ability. We absolutely smashed those walls!

  • THE SPACE

    Parthian Climbing is a brand-new facility, offering a 25,000sq ft state-of-the-art climbing experience. It is the first indoor climbing facility in the UK to include an exact replica of ‘The Titan’, the bouldering wall which will feature at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and the Climbing World Championships Bern 2023, which we were thrilled to try.

  • This evening is for anyone who wants to practise climbing and bouldering at any level, and loves being in a group environment.

  • There is no requirement to be at a certain level of fitness. If you’re in any doubt and would like to talk to us, drop us a WhatsApp message on +44 7944 949 370 and we’ll give you a call back.

  • Absolutely! This is for all levels, you'll be able to take more challenging routes and get out of your comfort zone as you wish.

  • Climbing and bouldering are for everyone. If you can climb a ladder or a flight of stairs, you can take part. Bouldering in particular involves short spurts of effort. We practice safe climbing and recommend climbing down when bouldering, but if you happen to fall there are crash mats to ease your landing. There will be a mix of levels and abilities so you won't be alone.

  • While there are no fitness requirements to taking part, if you are very scared of heights, this may not be the activity for you. The climbing wall height varies from 12 to 16 metres. While the coach will be supervising and coaching you at all times, you will need to be feel comfortable enough to come down from a height in a harness using the gym's autobelay system. If you aren't, the coach will need to come get you.

  • Absolutely, we run the Adventure Club so you can meet new people while challenging yourself.

  • We would love you to. We have ticket bundles for groups of 2, 3 or 4 friends so you can save some cash off the full price!

  • We recommend having a snack about an hour beforehand.
