Every year we open our Crete summerhouse to friends old and new to create the best week of the year: A chance to leave work behind to make new friends, give our training a boost and explore the island together. Over the years, our weeks in Crete have created lasting friendships, unforgettable memories and life-giving habits to take into the winter season.

Each week our hosts and coaches are here to help you boost your wellbeing, feel perfectly at home and soak in everything this beautiful corner of the world has to offer.

Accommodation

Our summerhouse consists of four family houses laid out around a communal gym and courtyard.

Each house is laid out on two levels, with a twin/double bedroom, private bathroom, and terrace on each level. The hub of each house is a central lounge with an open-plan kitchen, where you can gather and relax with your housemates. Each house is laid out so you can take time to be alone or socialise with others as you please.

Three of the houses boast stunning sea views, while the fourth opens up to mountain and gym views.

The gym is right outside your front door and you can train there around the clock.

All houses have free and reliable wi-fi for those who need to stay on top of work while away.

Training

We have in store for you a week of varied and challenging workouts, combining daily structured sessions with plenty of opportunities to push yourself in a supportive, coached environment. Whether you've been training for years or just getting started, in Crete you'll find new challenges and variety beyond your typical gym routine.

Our hand-picked team of coaches is passionate about helping people move better and feel their best. We design each training session to include skills coaching, strength work, and sweaty intervals. No matter where you are on your fitness journey, our goal is to inspire lasting, healthy habits you can take home with you.

Every morning, we’ll have a coached training session for the group combining technique work, strength work and aerobic intervals. In the afternoon there is an optional second session where you can follow along with the coach or do your own training. Everything we will do together at the gym is adaptable,, allowing you to move at your own pace and challenge yourself.  

The gym includes:

  • An Eleiko rig with Eleiko plates and barbells.

  • For strength work: A variety of dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, gymnastics rings and parallettes.

  • For aerobic work: jump ropes, box jumps and Concept 2 Rowers.

  • Yoga and mobility accessories.

You can access the gym around the clock aside from our coached sessions for your own practice. For endurance work outside the gym, there are also trails outside the house for running, and of course, the beach for swimming.

Exploring

There’s nothing quite as refreshing and rebalancing as spending time in nature. Together we’ll explore beaches and mountains a number of ways:

Swimming 

We’re located across the road from the beach so we. will dip in the water daily. Further along the village, there are additional spots where we can swim, snorkel and explore. We will also head out to other beaches further afield once or twice each week.

Trails

Outside the villa, there are two mountain trails to the north and a flat trail to the south, all of which have views towards the sea and are great for a walk or hike.

Paddleboarding 

Paddleboarding is a great workout and a meditative thing to do early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the waters are calm. The nearby island of Spinalonga is a short 15-minute paddle away.

Gorge Hike

Crete is full of stunning gorges and we will explore a variety of them in 2025. Hikes will last approximately four hours. We will walk, climb, and treat ourselves to views of the Cretan landscape. Expect to dip in the waterfall or the sea at some point during the hike.

Private boat trip

Our private boat trip gives us a chance to explore nearby beaches and coves and enjoy diving off the boat into blue waters. We typically set off late morning and return in the afternoon, having had lunch on the boat.

ITINERARY

  • You’ll be picked up from Heraklion airport and taken to the villa. You’ll have time to settle in and explore, and then ease into our first light training session to start the week off strong. We will have dinner together in Plaka.

  • Early birds can go for sunrise paddleboarding to the island and work out before a rewarding big breakfast. If you want to lie in, please do so! Enjoy a relaxed hike or watersports, lunch, and then some free time to either go for a swim or stretch out in the open gym, followed by a group dinner.

  • We’ll enjoy an early breakfast and set off on a longer hike along a stunning gorge through a picturesque waterfall. We’ll end up at the beach and have a picnic lunch. Once home, you can join in a sweaty workout session; or opt for an optional massage. For dinner, we’ll taste local delicacies and watch the sunset to finish the day.

  • We’ll start the day with a group workout followed by a hearty breakfast. You then have options; decide between an island trip, a beach day, some open gym, or just exploring Plaka at your leisure. We’ll come together for lunch and again for dinner in the evening, at a favourite local restaurant.

  • We’ll kick off the day with a team workout followed by breakfast. Then all aboard for a day boat trip, stopping off at secluded beaches to dive and snorkel, and eat homemade Cretan lunch along the way. In the late afternoon, the gym is available for training or mobility, before a communal dinner at a handpicked restaurant nearby.

  • Wake up for a sunrise SUP if you choose to, before a group workout and breakfast. We’ll then take you to one of our favourite wineries for the wine aficionados (optional, and we will need a minimum of four), or feel free to skip and stay around at the villa or beach. We’ll eat dinner at one of our local favourites.

  • It’s your last chance for a sunrise swim or paddle and to watch the bay light up. After our team workout and breakfast, it’s your free day to do as you wish. Your host will have plenty of recommendations if you need and there are plenty of activities to take part in, solo or with others from the group. We’ll set off early for a delicious Cretan dinner at a nearby town and to watch the sunset.

  • We’ll wake up for a team workout in celebratory team style to send out the week and a farewell brunch, before taking you back to Heraklion airport, fully loaded with food and energy for your return. Item description

Meals

We love sharing food together around a table. We aim to find fresh, locally sourced delicious food and we choose restaurants that do this very well. We’ll encourage you to try traditional Cretan dishes; specifically those that promote performance and recovery.

  • We have breakfast together every day. You have a choice to make your own breakfast or order it from our favourite spot. We eat breakfast after morning training.

  • Lunch will sometimes be eaten on location, e.g., on a hike or on a boat at sea. The rest of our days, we will pick a spot in the village. You can also make your own at home if you so wish. Each house has its own kitchen, where simple meals are easy to prepare.

  • For dinner, we head to one of our favourite local spots, a different one every night. There is a wealth of restaurants serving delicious local food in and around our area and we’re excited to show you them.

Portions in Crete are generous, so you are unlikely to be hungry between meals.

We have not included meals in the price. Generally, you can expect to spend between 25-35€ per person for dinner.

YOUR HOSTS AND COACHES

vicky brackin

Vicky is a former professional dancer who transitioned to a strength and conditioning coach. As the Community Manager at MLA and a coach at CrossFit Shapesmiths, she brings over seven years of experience to her role, along with a passion for physical and mental well-being. 

Vicky is an avid adventurer, having tackled the 40km UTMB MCC trail marathon. She enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, surfing, and skiing and loves animals, especially sea turtles, penguins, and dogs. Vicky loves travelling as it creates unforgettable memories and sharing the joy of adventure with others.

TYLA SULLIVAN

Tyla is a passionate coach, photographer and adventurer. Her love of sports has taken her to compete nationally in Weightlifting for South Africa, coach CrossFit and Weightlifting for several years in London and get various diving qualifications around the world.

Tyla is a gifted host and you can count on her to coach you and take you out to snorkel and discover new spots on the island. Fun fact about Tyla: straight out of school she trained in the culinary arts and is a passionate foodie, so she knows where to find the best meze in the area!

gigi erhardt

Gigi is passionate about coaching fitness and proper nutrition. She has a background in running, where she competed at national level, and more recently has competed with great success in Hyrox and functional fitness competitions.

As a registered nutritionist and fitness coach, she helps people overcome the all-or-nothing diet and training mindset with effective nutrition and training plans designed for busy lifestyles.

On retreat she’ll be your fitness coach as well as be on hand to support you with nutrition if you so wish, with the aim to create a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Fun fact about Gigi is that she grew up in several countries, see if you can work out which ones when you meet her!

Head Host: Stella Kamba

Stella founded More Life Adventures after several years of working as an architect, and having experienced several burnout episodes. Having retrained as a personal trainer and after several years of CrossFit training, she converted the Crete summer house so that she could bring people together for training, village living, a community experience and quality time in nature.

Stella grew up in Greece and went to summer camp overseas every year, a formative experience she has brought to the More Life Adventures itinerary. She is in her element hosting groups of mixed abilities and backgrounds and you can rely on her to keep you going during long hikes and swims!

How to book

Book your place with a deposit and pay the balance in monthly instalments

You can book your space with a deposit of £200 and spread the balance across monthly instalments. The full balance is due one month prior to departure.

Please note, we need a minimum of 7 guests to go ahead. If we cannot go ahead, your payment will be refunded in full, or you can choose instead to move it to a different More Life Adventures retreat.

These include water sports, sports massage sessions, lunch at a local winery or the short boat trip to Spinalonga island. You can select these on booking.

 

LOCATION

We are located on Plaka Beach (near Elounda), Crete, between the sea and the mountain. The village offers a wealth of fitness, restaurant options and day trip opportunities.

The nearest airport to us is Heraklion, which is an hour away by car. We are a 20-minute drive away from the town of Elounda which boasts a number of excellent hotels and resorts.

The villa overlooks Spinalonga - a small island recently nominated for the list of World Heritage sites, which you can get to by boat or paddleboard in 10-15 minutes.

  • If you would love an active holiday in the sun, exploring new places with like-minded people, this is for you.

    Guests on our trips range in age from early 20s to late 60s. They typically love to be active, explore, and hang out in a light-hearted group environment.

  • All levels of fitness are welcome.

    Prior experience in functional fitness training or CrossFit is relevant but not at all required.

    If you have taken some time out of training, this is the perfect opportunity to be inspired to get back into a training routine with the support of a passionate coach.

  • Upon receiving your booking we will send you suggested flight times for you to catch the group transfer included in your package. If for whatever reason you cannot make the group transfer times, we can book you a private transfer at an additional cost.

  • Most of our guests are in their 30s and 40s, but we have had guests in their 20s, 50s and 60s.

    Everyone over the age of 21 is welcome on our trips and there is no upper age limit.

  • Absolutely. We plan these trips specifically for our guests to gel easily. Get ready to make new friends!

  • Unless you specifically book to share a room with a friend or partner, we will not ask you to share a room with anyone.

    If you are booking a room to yourself, please make sure you select the single occupancy option.

  • We will have coached training once a day and an additional open gym session. Both sessions are optional. If you prefer to rest on some of those, that’s completely fine, it's your week.

  • We cater for all allergies and dietary requirements. Just let us know on your booking form.

  • The villas have stable WiFi, so most of our guests can work and study remotely. If you have specific video streaming requirements, please get in touch.

  • Most of our guests will have a drink at dinner but not too much more. We kindly ask that you do not bring alcohol to the house.
