What drew you to co-host retreats, especially the ones in Wales?
I grew up in London, where life can be so fast-paced and often stressful. I’ve noticed that people feel their best when they’re outdoors, staying active, and connecting with others — yet so few city-dwellers actually get that opportunity. Many people think they need to travel abroad to experience the mountains, but the Welsh countryside is an amazing getaway right on our doorstep. Just three hours by train, and you’re surrounded by scenery that could rival France or Switzerland. Plus, there’s something special about being in a place with limited phone signal and being completely free from constant notifications. It allows you to just be in the moment and focus on the present.
Can you walk us through a typical weekend itinerary?
The weekend is all about unplugging and enjoying good company. We start off with a cosy dinner at a local pub on the Friday night, which is a perfect way to break the ice. Saturday is our big hike up Mount Snowdon, which takes around six hours. We go at a comfortable pace, with everyone supporting each other along the way. There’s always a sense of accomplishment when we reach the summit, and the views on the descent, especially around the lake, are stunning. We wrap up with a hearty brunch on the Sunday at a rustic cottage before heading back to the city, feeling more refreshed than you can imagine!
Do you have any favourite memories from your time hosting in Wales?
The hike itself is always a highlight—reaching the top with everyone is such a shared triumph. But I also love the smaller moments, like brunch at this charming, old-world spot called The Ugly House. It’s just the kind of place you don’t find in London. Plus - we had a dog on one of the hikes, which added so much fun and energy to the group. Everyone bonded quickly, and by the end, we felt like we’d known each other for ages.
What excites you about the next Wales weekend?
It’s the idea of bringing more people into this experience. Many people in London are held back by the logistics of planning or not having anyone to go with. This escape takes that stress away - all they have to do is sign up, and we handle the rest. We’re making it so easy for people to explore the beauty that is right outside their city.
What’s unique about the Wales weekend that guests wouldn’t experience back home?
Wales has this incredible calmness that’s so different from the busy streets of London. The area is remote, and there’s a real contrast between the outdoor adventure and the home comforts we incorporate - like gathering around a fire, sharing a nice dinner, and playing games in the evening. It’s not about pushing anyone to their limits; it’s about creating a balance where people can enjoy the outdoors and also unwind away from the city.
How do you prepare to lead a weekend like this?
Preparation is key. I make sure everyone is set up for a safe, enjoyable experience. That starts with clear communication—we’re in it together, and everyone’s needs matter. If someone’s tired or struggling, I encourage them to speak up. We also provide a packing list to help everyone feel ready, and I carry extra snacks, drinks, and first aid supplies, just in case. Creating a supportive environment where everyone feels looked after is my top priority.
What can guests expect to gain from joining a Wales weekend?
It’s a chance to make new friends, experience a change of pace, and reconnect with the simpler things in life. For those with active dogs, they’re welcome too - having a furry companion adds even more to the experience! Guests always leave feeling more relaxed but also energised from the physical activity and fresh air. A lot of people tell me they come back to London feeling mentally recharged and even more motivated in their daily routines.
How would you describe the atmosphere of the trip?
Wholesome, for sure. There’s a relaxed vibe throughout the weekend. We’re up early, out in nature, and by the evening, everyone’s happy to unwind with games or just good conversation. It’s a place where you can truly be yourself, leave any stress behind, and connect with others over shared experiences.
Are there any new elements or ideas you’re bringing to future Wales weekends?
I’d love to add more group activities, like cooking a meal together. It brings that extra feeling of togetherness. We’re also exploring the possibility of adding shorter hikes in the area, giving people more chances to soak up the scenery. There’s something about spending time outdoors that just feels more rewarding when you’re with a group of like-minded people.
What are your goals as you take on full ownership of these weekends?
I’m excited to find more hikes around Snowdon and discover local spots to make each trip unique. Every new group is different, and part of the fun is seeing how they connect and bond. Ultimately, my goal is to make it easy and enjoyable for people to step outside their comfort zones and realise they don’t need to go far to have an adventure.
